Make a Donation to TLIP

I created the Texas Legislative Internship Program in 1990 to provide real world experience for young civic-minded students.

Since then, TLIP has provided 257 young people, Texas Legislative Fellows as they are known, with the opportunity to become key public policy players in government. Their internship experiences often serve as the springboard for selecting public service careers. The quality of the experience these young people receive is unparalleled. During the 79th Legislative Session (Spring 2005), 44 interns were placed in the offices of ranking members of the legislative and executive branches of government. These students were involved in all facets of the governmental process.

Since its inception, this worthwhile program has been supported through private funding. Thus far, the program has distributed $1,635,000 in stipends. However, the need continues as the program expands. I am asking you to include TLIP in your charitable giving. Corporate contributions are acceptable, and all contributions are tax-deductible.

TLIP is administered through the Mickey Leland Center at Texas Southern University, a 501(c)(3) organization.
